Judging Others

What is judging?   It is making a decision about someone and what he or she deserves because of it. The Greek definition of the word judge means to distinguish, decided, try, condemn, punish.

The real truth of the matter is that when one judges another, they are making a decision about that person and their deserving punishment. When one discerns properly, it is them making a decision about that person's behaviour and interceding so the person does not get what they deserve. If Abby Doe is a very evil bank robber and needs to be in prison verses Abby Doe is making a sinful decision and need the Lord’s deliverance. So for the first a judgment is a sentence of punishment whereas the response to discernment is to plead for deliverance.

So when one sees something or discerns something in another, it becomes the responsibility of that person to pray and to cover what they discern for Love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not. (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7).

Yes, God is a just God. He is totally and perfect in holiness, righteousness and also holds a perfect standard to measure us and our behaviour by. Although he has that ultimate high standard He is also perfect in love as he sent His son to die for you and me so therefore let us just conclude that love trumps everything or better yet, love balances the scale of justice. What is the rule of thumb for us as prophetic people as watchmen? Ask yourselves this, “Is my response to another person or situation loving?”

We are told to speak the truth in love but if we can’t speak it in love it would be better to pray and ask the Lord to change our hardened hearts before we speak at all!
